Questions:
Are session Online Only
At the moment all session will be conducted online. Face to face and Group sessions will re-commence at some stage. We will notify when commencing again.
I know we have a family problem but my child refuses to participate in the online sessions?
That’s OK – we can connect without your child initially. We’ll discuss the issues in that first session and work towards an inclusive treatment and outcome.
What is your most popular style of Counselling with the Youth you work with?Counselling varies depending on client situations. One popular intervention QVTP uses with youth, individually or in a group, comprises of a combination of therapy with song composition and recording. Music becomes the vehicle for the expression of personal narratives; past, present and future. Stephen’s successful Masters degree research verified this approach to youth interventions
I am so angry at my spouse, do I have to have him/her link in with me?
It would be better if you could invite your spouse into the first session even if you are angry. That way you both start working together to make things better-right from the beginning. However, if that feels impossible – we can do a virtual session and we’ll work on moving that anger aside so you can invite him/her to link in on the next session.
My child is 17 and wants individual therapy. I want him/her to have private sessions, no family therapy ?
Individual session for your child is fine, however, I will encourage your child to invite you online as treatment progresses so you can be informed and a positive resource. Confidentiality is required, therefore your child can only be encouraged to include you. Confidentiality may not apply to issues of abuse or danger to self or others.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on how long it takes to work through the issues you have come to solve, however we have achieved great results in as short as six weeks for some clients. My personal preference is that therapy progression and ending is probably best determined by the client.
